Maritime Museum Acquires Sasja Hagens' Artwork
The Maritime Museum Rotterdam recently acquired a new work by Rotterdam artist Sasja Hagens. The epoxy ship model "Apollo" is now included in the exhibition "Maritime Women," which opened at the museum in October 2025.
"Apollo" is not Hagens' first work in the museum's collection. Previous acquisitions included the paintings "Saipem 7000" (on display in the exhibition "Te Water!") and "Orion Towards the City." This is, however, her first sculpture in the collection. "Sasja Hagens is an inspiring contemporary artist who captures the maritime world from her own perspective," says Head of Collections Robert Anraad. "We collect maritime-related works from all periods. With this artwork, Sasja demonstrates that shipping continues to inspire artists. It aligns well with our core focus on 'contemporary collecting' and offers excellent presentation possibilities."
