Today I have just returned from Miami Beach, Florida. I went there to visit the most important (and large scaled) show for contemporary art, the Art Basel Miami Beach! My goal was to check out the place and meet people. All my expectations came through: what a thrill to be there! The whole city of Miami is art art and art is everywhere!! At least seven fairs are showing at the same time. I've visited also the Pulse, INK (works on paper) and the Aqua (contemporary art).

The Basel art fair is the hottest and most complete contemporary show today. It is large with a lot of famous artists and gallerys. The glamour and overall buzz is overwhelming and did you know there are some gallery owners who travel with bodyguards? I realized again that art business is very serious business, and I think that's a truly positive fact!

When I visited the side events like The Aqua, although I enjoyed the main event of Art Basel Miami Beach art fair for obvious reasons, I was much more thrilled visiting these smaller art fairs. The level of these shows was, to my opinion, very high. That, in combination with good art conversations. Gallery-owners who can really talk about their artist, showing there enthusiasm and making the conversation. What a great art atmosphere!

 From now on, Miami Beach is in my agenda for December!

From March 11 2011 the painting, Maastoren/ Sunset buildingsite, 230 x 340 cm_2011_collection Deloitte Rotterdam, will be permanently shown at the Maastoren in Rotterdam.

I am feeling excited to start on a new commission for 'de Maastoren' in Rotterdam. (230 x 340 cm, dyptich). The scetching fase took a little bit longer than I first planned. Now I am very happy with the scetch. 'That's ok', as I may quote my-new-just-married-husband. 'Maybe it doesn't matter how fast you're going if you make sure you 'll move in the right direction'. 

Last week the exhibition started in Rotterdam. Because of the birth of my son Ramses this Mai 20th 2010,  I had some trouble managing the exposition before June the 5th. I received a lot of help by Willem, Anja and of course Jan van Munster, owner at Smelik, to get the exposition organized in time. But we managed! And I would like to thank all of you for that! Ramses is doing very well and so do I.
